Weeks 17 and 18

I'm sorry for missing last week's post.

Today starts week 18 of my pregnancy!

Last week Olive was the weight of a turnip.

And this week she/he is about the length of  bell pepper.

I can now feel the baby move some, and when he/she is twisting around I can tell that he/she is about that big. :) I praise the Lord for that perception, because it is just amazing to be able to tell that.

Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
~Exodus 15:10

Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I , will sing unto the Lord; I will sing praise to the Lord God of Isreal.
~Judges 5:3

This week Olive's ears should reach their final position on her/his head, and the myelin coating on their tiny nerves should begin forming. I can't wait for an ultrasound, to be able to see our precious little one; Lord willing it will be soon.

Our First...

Seedling!

Bryant noticed it today. It is our first (and second; to the left) seedling of the year!
Yay! Tomatoes!

Bryant set-up our growing area. It is next to the door that goes onto the balcony. I brought in a raised planter box that Bryant bought for me to grow our vegetables in. He bought a "seedling heat mat" to keep the little growing guys warm and cozy. We are borrowing a lamp that has a "grow-light" in it that somehow helps the seeds; I don't know how it works. Then we have our box with 24 planted pellets inside.

Our nifty set-up

We planted bell peppers, two varieties of tomato, and lettuce. I am excited to see all of the pellets, with little specks of green, filling most of our starter box.

I am thankful for the little box that fits in our home, and the means to get an early start on our plants. The Lord has been very good to us, and we are mightily blessed!

And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

Week 16

2/5 of the way through this pregnancy... Wow! 4 more weeks and I will be half way through.

Olive should be about the length of an avocado:

and weighs about 3 ounces!

Again, it is amazing the rapid growth of a baby in the womb! Olive's bones should be hardening, her eyes and ears getting into place, and her nerves growing throughout her tiny body. Our God is amazing!

I am excited about the weeks ahead, of visiting a doctor, having an ultrasound, and finding out the gender!

I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.
~Psalm 7:17

Thanksgiving Thursday

  • Week 15 of my pregnancy!

This past weekend I noticed that my belly is sticking out more than last week! (I'm excited to be showing!)

Olive is now 15 weeks into development! She now weighs about 4 ounces and is about the length of an apple.

Symptoms: Not many except the occasional headache or nauseous stomach.

Cravings: I'm outta the salty thing. Now it is whenever I hear or see something that looks good, and sausage biscuits....

Changes to Mommy: An expanding waistline

Milestones: Looking for a physician that meets our "qualifications."
  • A friend finding out the gender of her baby!
Congratulations Matthew and Angela on your baby girl!

  • Meeting brethren and making some new friends.
  • The light snow covering the ground.
  • The Lord's mercy on Jason, Bryant, and I during our trip.

Thanksgiving Thursday!

I am thankful for the excitement of visiting. This week we hosted Bryant's grandparents, hey were are first guests to spend the night in our apartment. We had a real fun time with them chatting and playing Canasta.

Grandpa Jim..

...Making me laugh hard

Tomorrow we will be making a weekend trip to South Carolina to visit some friends. I am excited to go and meet these people for the first time. We are glad to be bringing a friend with us who was able to come along. It will be a long, but, Lord willing, fun and safe trip.

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
~Psalm 95:2

Week 14

I have reached the second trimester with Olive!

She should be about 3 1/2 inches long, that is about as long as a lemon.

"This weeks big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him - a  process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb." (Source)

Olive is still growing, and becoming more proportionate. She is beginning to grow lanugo, a fine type of hair, all over her body. More organs are beginning to do their jobs, and Olive is supposed to be more flexible and active.

Maternity Clothes: Nope, not yet. Though I am beginning to stop wearing some of my normal clothes.

Symptoms: Headaches and occasional nausea.

Changes to Mommy: Still, a growing bump. Morning sickness might have begun to wane.

Food Cravings: At the moment~ Something with lemon. Usually it will be something that I see the word or a picture and want it. Or we are having something similar, but don't have that one thing. Like OEC chicken fried rice with pink sauce... had some chicken fried rice but no sauce.

Milestones? Made it to the second trimester!
